Alternate Theory Pertaining to EVPs..

While surfing, I found this very interesting (and plausible--in my view) theory as to where EVPs may or may not originate. Please read below:
Question: Should I be concerned, curious about EVP?
"I began recording EVP last September," says Julie. "I was incredibly successful on my first try. Over several months I have gone from run-of-the-mill EVP recordings to a more personal event: the EVP I get now are communicating directly to me. They see and hear me in real time, and they answer me in real time. They offer advice. They make references to loved ones who have passed. Is ANYONE else out there having a similar experience? I record voices on a digital device, and they are talking to me, but I can't see or hear them... and I'm NOT supposed to be concerned? Not the least bit curious?"
Answer: Julie, first of all, some people seem to be much more adept at capturing good EVP (electronic voice phenomena) than others. Also, I've heard from researchers, who are successful with it, who say that the more they experiment with it, the better the recordings become. This seems to be the case for you.
Your particular experience, however, has me thinking about one of the theories regarding EVP. No one really knows where these voices are coming from or how they are recorded on our devices, but one of the theories is that they are not from ghosts or spirits at all, but arise out of our own subconscious.
Could it be that EVP come from the deep recesses of our own minds, even though they manifest in a variety of voices, from children to the elderly, and display a range of emotions, from playfulness to anger? Perhaps EVP are like our dreams. There's a school of thought that says every character in your dreams is really YOU -- an aspect of you -- and that the plot of the dream is a way of understanding something about your life or working out some problem, difficulty, situation or stress.
Maybe EVP, Julie, are like that. These voices know you. They know your family and loved ones. They offer opinions and advice. Is it because they ARE you? Maybe, in this utterly fantastic way, you are talking to yourself, giving yourself advice. As with dreams, your subconscious is talking to your conscious self through these characters, but on an electronic medium. And just like dreams, the message can often be mysterious and obscure, but definitely worth examination.
So, should you be concerned? I don't think so. Curious? Absolutely. If indeed they come from your unconscious, EVP like the ones you are capturing should be analyzed and interpreted like dreams. Perhaps you can use these EVP to understand or discover something about yourself and your current life situation. Perhaps we all can! I've never had much luck with EVP, but I think I'm now going to give it another try.
I am curious as to what others may think. This definitely has ME scratching my head...

Lisa, I am scratching my head as well. It would not be pleasent for to get advise from my family,dead or alive. I try to avoid that at all costs. The theory that evps may be coming from her unconcious mind may be plausible.
I saw show ther on Paranormal State- the lady of the house was really in to capturing ALL THE TIME. She got lost into,
The crew took her down to river and had her toss her recorder.Family life was better and I believed the few paranormal remaimed minimal.

Interesting theory, but how can EVPs from a place you have never been to and really do not know much about be explained?
I remember that episode of Paranormal State. The lady had become obsessed with EVPs and had actually "invited" entities into her house because she constantly recorded and asked questions. Her whole mental and physical state had deteriorated over the period she was doing it.

Lisa ,
i just came across this posting today and would like to voice my own opinion on evp. i know i haven't been
doing evp recordings but about 3 years . never the less i seem to be able to capture 5 or more various quality evp's at every investigation i've been on in those three years . sometimes i think i might be interpreting my audio wrongly but i have located a
couple of people who can hear the same audio results
i get . i make sure to not reveal my interpretations to them before their analysis and they get the same results as i consistantly . i feel alot better about evp's
now and am more confident in my findings . i still highly value every opinion i get !! i dont feel evp,s originate
totally from the subconcious . most of my evp's seem
to contain info i couldn,t know , names ,places ,etc.
the subconcious may play some part in the overall
communication but i feel there is definately an intelligence existing beyond our death. my one question
is , "why would someone fear communication from
anyone they loved in life after the person dies ? ". you still love the person , as they do you ! god i love this
field !!! thanks for listening to me ramble on an on .
